A rehearsal for the Kumbhabhishek ceremony was conducted on Sunday evening. The ceremony will take place on Monday with the Kalash atop the Somnath Temple in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the Kalash was ceremonially lifted to the top of the temple using a 90-meter-high crane.
Amid enthusiastic cheers from devotees and visitors, the Somnath Temple glowed magnificently under multicoloured illuminations on the serene moonlit evening.
Located in Prabhas Patan, Veraval, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
On Monday, PM Narendra Modi will participate in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav at the sacred Somnath Temple around 10:15 am.
In one of his posts on X, on May 8, PM Modi had said, “On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the consecration of the reconstructed Somnath Temple, I will once again have the privilege of visiting there on May 11.”
“This occasion reminds us of how generations of our nation have continuously struggled to protect this sacred site and for its reconstruction. In this letter, addressed to my fellow countrymen, I have expressed my sentiments dedicated to the grand and divine Somnath abode,” he added.
