Investigation into the Ketan Agarwal murder case has revealed that accused Siya Goyal had taken her fiance’s mobile phone before he was allegedly pushed off the Lohagad Fort near Pune by her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary.
Siya was engaged to Ketan and the two were about to get married in Rajasthan’s Udaipur later this year.
However, she was in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary and didn’t want to marry Ketan, but allegedly hid this from her family.
According to the investigators, Siya and her boyfriend Chetan then hatched a conspiracy to murder Ketan and make it look like an accident so that she won’t have to face the social consequences of calling off the engagement.
Siya tricked Ketan into a trekking trip to Lohagad Fort, and her boyfriend carefully followed them without being detected.
Once Ketan reached the decided spot, Siya reportedly sat and signalled her boyfriend Chetan, who allegedly pushed him off the fort.
Ketan fell into a deep valley and died of his injuries on the spot. After this, Siya tried to paint it as an “accident” and told police that her fiance slipped and fell from the spot.
Initially, police believed her story and treated the incident as an “accident”. However, when Ketan’s family raised suspicion and demanded a thorough probe, a meticulously planned murder conspiracy was unearthed.
Police arrested both Siya and Chetan, who have now been sent to custody till July 4.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Siya and Chetan met at a cafe to discuss their plan, hours before it was executed.
Siya and Chetan also deleted their chat history in an alleged attempt to destroy evidence.
Police also suspect that Siya may have deleted evidence from her fiance Ketan’s phone before handing it over to one of his relatives after the murder.
