Seven-year-old raped, accused book under POCSO Act

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man after luring her to his house on the pretext of watching cartoon movies in the Ashoka Garden area of Bhopal late evening Friday.

The police have arrested the accused and booked him under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 8 pm on Friday, when the accused, identified as Narendra Rajput, lured the child, who was playing in a park near her house. He told her that he would show her cartoon movies and took her with him to his house, located near the victim’s house.

After allegedly raping the girl, he left her with a promise to give her toffees and chocolates if she did not tell anyone about the incident. However, the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother on reaching home. The family members took the child to the Ashoka garden police station and lodged a complaint.

Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal workers reached the spot demanding the arrest and stringent action against the accused.

The police said the accused was arrested, and booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and for kidnapping. Further investigations in the case are on.
