RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday unveiled key welfare promises ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, vowing to make electricity for irrigation free and provide direct financial support to women.

“The matter at hand is to build Bihar,” Yadav said, outlining his party’s plans if elected. “As soon as we form the government, electricity for irrigation will be made free. PACs will be given the designation of public representatives. Farmers will get ₹300 and ₹400 respectively over the MSP for paddy and wheat,” he announced.

He further said that under the ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’, ₹30,000 will be deposited annually into the accounts of women. “On Makar Sankranti, 14th January, we will deposit ₹30,000 into the accounts of women after we form the government,” he stated.

Yadav also exuded his confidence in the Mahagathbandhan’s victory. “Hum log jeet rahe hain, Bihar ki janta jita rahi hai. We will take the oath on 18th November,” he said.

Emphasising administrative reforms, Yadav added that, as per the RJD manifesto, government employees, including police, healthcare workers, and teachers, will have transfer postings limited to a 70 km radius of their home cadre.

Yadav, on Friday, mocked the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) manifesto for the Bihar elections, terming it a ‘sorry patra’, and said that it was released randomly.

Levelling up his criticism against the NDA, Tejashwi said the manifesto was a ‘jumla’ and that the people of Bihar had recognised the ‘chaal charitra’ (character) of the NDA.

On Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s perceived silence, the RJD leader pointed out that the CM was not being allowed to speak. His observation was echoed by Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, who also questioned the NDA over the CM’s absence from the discourse.

The ruling NDA on Friday put out its joint manifesto for the impending Bihar Assembly elections, assuring one crore jobs, EBC empowerment and rapid industrial development in the state.

The manifesto was released by CM Nitish Kumar, BJP national president JP Nadda, LJP (Ram Vilas) leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, HAM (Secular) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, and other NDA alliance partners in Patna.

The 24-point vision document emphasised education, agriculture, infrastructure, creating one crore government jobs and the welfare of women and EBC.

The NDA also assured to establish mega skill centres in every district if it returned to power.
The ruling alliance promised to develop industrial parks and set up factories across all districts in the next five years.
