Rajasthan Police arrest funding agent of Pakistan’s ISI

Sleuths from the Rajasthan Police CID Intelligence wing arrested an ISI funding agent who has been providing funds to individuals involved in espionage for Pakistani agencies.

A Police spokesman said here Wednesday evening that Rafiq Chaand Sheikh (41), a native of Aurangabad Maharashtra, was arrested on Tuesday. He has been involved in anti-India activities for the past four years.

Sheikh was caught based on a tip-off gathered during the investigation and interrogation related to two Pakistani spies arrested by the security agencies earlier this year: Jhabara Ram from Jaisalmer and Summit Kumar from the Dibrugarh Air Force station in Assam.

It was revealed in the investigation in the two referred cases revealed that Chaand Sheikh provided the duo funds on behalf of the ISI, the spokesman said.

Following this revelation, CID (Intelligence) sleuths apprehended and interrogated Sheikh who admitted his involvement in these activities, stating he had been in contact with a Pakistan handler for four years. He had opened several accounts in the different banks under his name and also in others’ names. They were in contact through social media platforms.

Now, the police are interrogating him to get more information about his network and links, the spokesman added.
