The Rajasthan Government has issued work execution orders for two major drinking water projects— the Navnera Drinking Water Project and the Parvan Akawad Drinking Water Project—entailing a combined investment of ₹5,184 crore for Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts.
The execution orders were issued on Tuesday following directives from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at a high-level review meeting here. The works are targeted for completion by August 2027 to provide potable water to around 2.6 lakh households across the four districts.
Under the Navnera project, based on the Navnera Barrage on the Kali Sindh river in the Digod region of Kota district, one intake pump house, three water treatment plants, 14 treated-water ponds and 137 elevated water tanks will be constructed.
A 58.45-km raw water rising main pipeline and a 4,506.89-km network of main rising pipelines, cluster distribution lines and rural distribution lines will be laid. Fourteen pump houses will also be constructed in Kota and Bundi districts.
This project will supply potable water to 1,13,287 households in six towns and 749 villages of Kota and Bundi districts.
Similarly, under the Parvan Akawad scheme, based on the Akawad Dam on the Parvan river in Jhalawar district, two intake pump houses, two water treatment plants, 41 treated-water reservoirs and 276 elevated reservoirs will be built.
In addition, 661 km of transmission pipeline across Jhalawar, Baran and Kota districts and a 9,477-km network of rising main pipelines, cluster distribution lines and rural distribution lines will be laid.
This scheme will supply potable water to 1,52,437 households in 1,402 villages and 276 hamlets of Jhalawar, Kota and Baran districts. An allocation of ₹3,523.16 crore has been made for the works under this project.
Both projects are key components of the mega Ramjal Setu Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project.
