The BJP on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his alleged ‘dance for votes’ remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi made during a joint poll rally with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar, alleging that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha has “mocked voters” and “insulted” the poor with his remarks.

In a post on X, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said, “Rahul Gandhi speaks like a ‘Local Goon’. Rahul Gandhi has openly insulted every poor of India, and in Bihar, who has voted for PM Narendra Modi ji! Rahul Gandhi has mocked voters and Indian democracy.”

Meanwhile, in a sharp reaction to the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha’s remarks, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Rahulji, that is not drama. The PM fasts for nine days during Navratri. He fasted for 11 days before the inauguration of the Shri Ram Temple. He is a pure vegetarian.”

“The drama is that on one hand, your allies hold a conference on the eradication of Sanatan Dharma, meaning the complete destruction of Hinduism. Then, your people hold a conference on dismantling global Hindutva abroad, meaning the destruction of Hinduism from the entire world. And you said that you have to fight the ‘Shakti’ of Hinduism. A photo of you wearing a ‘Janeu’ (sacred thread) over your kurta is shown in your party’s official press conference, and after coming out of the temple, you reveal your gotra, not your caste. This is drama,” Dr Trivedi said.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi launched a staunch attack against Prime Minister Modi, alleging he would ‘do anything for votes’.

Gandhi was addressing a joint election rally at Muzaffarpur in Bihar with the Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial face and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, opening his campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections.

During the rally, the Congress leader reiterated his “vote theft” allegations, accusing PM Modi of attempting to steal votes in the Bihar elections.

Gandhi said, “He (PM Modi) just wants your vote. If you ask him to do a drama for votes, he will. You can make him do anything. If you tell Narendra Modi to dance, he will dance.”

“They are engaged in stealing your votes. Because they want to end this election disease, I am telling you, they stole elections in Maharashtra, they stole elections in Haryana, and they will try their best in Bihar,” he added.
