In line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government’s commitment to delivering clean, transparent, and accountable services to the people, Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today handed over appointment letters to 504 newly recruited Patwaris.

Addressing the appointees at the appointment letter distribution ceremony at the Municipal Bhawan here, Mundian said these Patwaris, having completed their mandatory 18-month training, are now being deployed in the field as regular Patwaris.

He informed that Chief Minister Mann had allocated districts to eligible candidates based on merit following the recruitment process in 2023. As per regulations, the candidates underwent one year of training at Patwar Schools followed by six months of field training.
To facilitate the process, 10 temporary Patwar Schools were set up during the training period, staffed with experienced and retired PCS officers, District Revenue Officers, Tehsildars, Patwaris, and Kanungos, who served as Principals, Vice Principals, and instructors.

During the training, the Patwaris received comprehensive instruction in revenue computation, land records, surveying, record preparation, elections, settlement operations, agriculture, and computer applications.

Special modules covered election-related work, primarily voter list preparation—and agricultural knowledge, including details of Kharif and Rabi crops, pesticides, fertilizers, and seeds. Candidates also received hands-on training in using the Integrated Land Management System (ILMS) for Jamabandi data entry, mutation recording, Roznamacha, Fard Badar, and related operations.

The Cabinet Minister further said that DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) equipment has been procured to train all Patwaris in demarcation work, with dedicated sessions underway. Training is also being provided for conducting revenue surveys through the Digital Crop Survey.

Mundian added that the departmental examination for eligible candidates was held from May 26 to June 3, 2025, and all 504 candidates who passed are now being deployed after receiving their appointment letters.

“These Patwaris have been appointed to ensure clean, transparent, and accountable citizen-centric services. I am confident that their induction will help in building a corruption-free society,” he said, announcing that recruitment for more Patwari positions will be expedited to provide opportunities to Punjab’s youth.

Reaffirming the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the Minister warned that any government employee found indulging in corrupt practices would face strict action.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma said the recruitment aims to streamline the Revenue Department’s functioning, ensuring people receive timely, hassle-free services.

Welcoming the new appointees, he said deploying qualified Patwaris would help implement reforms such as Easy Jamabandi and Easy Registry more effectively at the grassroots level.
