Public anger not against Chadha: Kapoor

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Monday termed it “laughable” that AAP’s Delhi convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj spoke of public anger against MP Raghav Chadha. He asserted that the real public anger was reflected in the defeat of AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Bhardwaj, in 2025.

Kapoor alleged that the people of Delhi expressed their dissatisfaction over corruption in the AAP government through the electoral outcome. He further claimed that Punjab is currently witnessing similar public discontent against the AAP government over issues such as alleged corruption, election fund extortion, rising drug problems and threats faced by traders. He added that AAP’s exit from Punjab in 2027 is “certain.”

The BJP leader also remarked that individuals who reach the position of a Member of Parliament do so through dedication and sustained effort for their party. Referring to Chadha’s political journey, Kapoor said that despite being a Chartered Accountant, he left his professional career to support Kejriwal in building and expanding the party from 2011 to 2024.

Kapoor further alleged that Chadha had warned the party leadership since 2024 about corruption concerns — first regarding the Delhi government’s liquor policy case and later about issues in Punjab — but his concerns were ignored by Kejriwal.

He claimed that Chadha was subsequently removed from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and “humiliated,” after which seven AAP MPs allegedly decided to leave the party and join the BJP in what Kapoor described as being in the “national interest.”

Kapoor concluded by stating that the future of the country lies with middle-class youth and hardworking gig workers, and questioned why Bhardwaj objected to Chadha raising issues concerning their rights.
