Barsana is being decked up for the world-famous Laddumar and Lathmar Holi. This year, the administration is preparing to provide a memorable experience to devotees.

Barsana will celebrate Laddumar Holi on February 25 and Lathmar Holi on February 27.

Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh inspected every corner of Barsana on Thursday, along with the administrative staff. He remarked that devotees visiting Barsana must return with a grand and new image of the town.

During the inspection, the District Magistrate issued strict instructions regarding traffic management near the railway crossing on the Govardhan-Barsana road. He stated that arrangements should be made on both sides of the crossing to avoid traffic jams. He also directed that the entire Barsana area be decorated with theme-based wall paintings and that electric poles and transformers be wrapped in plastic to ensure both safety and aesthetics.

The District Magistrate inspected the helipad site and issued instructions for barricading and cleaning. He closely inspected the roads leading to Rangili Chowk, Katara Chowk, Lado Gate, and the Shri Radha Rani Temple. He directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to complete road repairs and parking facilities on time. He also instructed the Irrigation Department to clean drains and remove encroachments

The District Magistrate has taken a strict stance to prevent the health of devotees from being compromised during Holi. He directed the Food Safety Department to destroy adulterated goods and take strict legal action against those selling fake gulal. Shopkeepers have also been urged to provide only quality products to devotees.

Regarding security arrangements, the Rural Superintendent of Police (Rural) was instructed to ensure the entire fair area is covered with CCTV cameras. The District Magistrate said, “The police should keep a close watch on anti-social elements and rumour mongers. Security arrangements should be regularly reviewed using drones.” Instructions were also given to deploy active staff at the control room and watch towers.

This year, the administration is also paying special attention to the environment. The District Magistrate instructed the Sub-District Magistrate, Govardhan, to make the Barsana Fair area plastic-free. Shopkeepers violating these instructions will face legal action.
