As the festive season dawns upon India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called upon the nation to celebrate not just with lights and joy but with a deeper sense of pride in the country’s creativity, hard work, and innovation.
In a message posted on X, Modi urged all 140 crore Indians to consciously choose Indian-made products and proudly proclaim, “Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai!”
The Prime Minister’s appeal comes amid a nationwide movement to boost local industries and artisans, reinforcing the message of self-reliance and economic empowerment.
“Let’s buy Indian products and say—Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai! Do also share what you bought on social media. This way you will inspire others to do the same,” Modi said in his post, encouraging citizens to become ambassadors of the Swadeshi movement through their social media platforms.
Supporting this initiative, MyGovIndia launched a special campaign titled “Celebrate Diwali and Empower Swadeshi,” inviting citizens to take a pledge to buy only Swadeshi products this festive season.
The campaign emphasised the importance of supporting local artisans, whose craftsmanship and livelihoods are vital to India’s cultural and economic fabric.
In its message, MyGovIndia highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision, stating, “PM @narendramodi is inspiring the nation to go #VocalForLocal. Share your selfie with your Swadeshi purchase or its maker.” This interactive campaign aims to create a ripple effect of awareness and pride among consumers, linking personal choice with national progress.
The Swadeshi movement, deeply rooted in India’s freedom struggle, has regained momentum in recent years as a crucial pillar of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative. By promoting indigenous products, the campaign seeks to boost local economies, create jobs, and reduce dependence on imports.
As Diwali lights adorn homes across the nation, this call to action adds meaningful light to the festivities—one that shines on the strength, talent, and enterprise of Indian hands. This Diwali, the message is clear: Celebrate with joy, shop with pride, and say boldly, “Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai!”
