Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch two major agricultural initiatives, the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission, on October 11 in New Delhi. These schemes aim to transform India’s agriculture sector by increasing productivity, promoting crop diversification, and enhancing farmers’ income.
“Tomorrow, October 11, the country’s agriculture and rural sector is set to witness a new history…These schemes will not only strengthen efforts to increase yields in 100 low-productivity districts but also accelerate production of pulses,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana targets 100 low-productivity districts across the country, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity, promote crop diversification, and provide easy access to credit and storage infrastructure. The Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission seeks to make India self-reliant in pulse production by increasing productivity, expanding cultivation areas, and strengthening the value chain.
Key Features Include:
-PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: Rs 24,000 crore allocation, focusing on 100 low-productivity districts, with convergence of 36 schemes from 11 ministries, benefiting 1.7 crore farmers directly.
-Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission: Rs 11,440 crore allocation, aiming to increase pulse production from 252.38 lakh tonnes to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030-31, with 100 percent procurement guarantee at MSP.
– Projects Worth Rs 42,000 Crore: Inauguration and foundation laying of over 1,100 projects in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors.
The launch of these initiatives marks a significant step towards achieving India’s agricultural development goals and enhancing food security.
