Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his warm greetings to citizens on the occasion of Mahalaya, which marks the beginning of Devi Paksha and the countdown to the grand Durga Puja celebrations.

In a message shared on X, PM Modi wished for the divine blessings of Maa Durga to bring strength, joy, and good health to all.

“Wishing you all Shubho Mahalaya! As the sacred days of Durga Puja draw near, may our lives be filled with light and purpose. May 0the divine blessings of Maa Durga bring unwavering strength, lasting joy, and wonderful health,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Mahalaya signifies the start of Devi Paksha, a fortnight dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga. It is a time of spiritual reflection, cultural celebration, and family togetherness, especially among Bengalis, who traditionally offer tarpan to their ancestors and seek their blessings.

Durga Puja, one of India’s most revered festivals, is celebrated with grandeur across the country, particularly in West Bengal. The festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and is marked by elaborate puja pandals, cultural performances, and family gatherings.

PM Modi’s message highlights the significance of Durga Puja, wishing that Maa Durga’s blessings bring strength, joy, and good health to all, in keeping with the festival’s themes of spiritual growth and well-being.
