Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to former Deputy Prime Minister Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary, recalling his lifelong dedication to the ideals of equality and social justice.

‎In a post shared on X, the Prime Minister said, “Humble tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. He dedicated his life to the cause of equality and social justice. His invaluable contribution to the nation will always be remembered.”

‎Jagjivan Ram, widely known as ‘Babuji’, remains one of India’s most influential political figures and a central voice in the fight for social justice. Born in 1908, he was actively involved in the freedom movement and later held several significant portfolios in independent India, including defence, agriculture and labour. His tenure as Deputy Prime Minister further cemented his legacy as a committed public servant and reformer.
