Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said his visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand will be centred on strengthening India’s economic and strategic ties with key Indo-Pacific partners while opening up new opportunities for the country’s youth.

Before embarking on the three-nation tour, Modi said the engagements would help deepen cooperation with three trusted developmental partners and further India’s expanding outreach across the Indo-Pacific.

“Over the next few days, I will be attending various programmes in Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. The aim of these meetings would be to boost economic and strategic cooperation with these valued developmental partners and ensure the youth of our nation get more opportunities in the times to come,” the Prime Minister said.

During the visit, Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with the leaders of the three countries, with discussions likely to cover trade and investment, defence and maritime security, technology, education, clean energy and people-to-people ties. The tour is also seen as part of India’s broader effort to strengthen its strategic footprint in the Indo-Pacific amid shifting regional and global dynamics.

Indonesia remains an important maritime partner for India and a key member of ASEAN, while Australia has become one of New Delhi’s closest strategic allies through expanding cooperation in defence, critical minerals, education and the Quad grouping. New Zealand has also been working to deepen its engagement with India, particularly in trade, agriculture, innovation and higher education.

Modi’s emphasis on creating greater opportunities for young Indians aligns with the government’s broader objective of leveraging international partnerships to promote employment, skill development, technology transfer and investment.

Officials expect the visit to further collaboration in emerging sectors, encourage stronger business partnerships and foster innovation-driven growth that benefits both India and its Indo-Pacific partners.

The three-country tour is also expected to reinforce India’s commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific while advancing its Act East policy and strengthening engagement with like-minded nations across the region.
