Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Rumen Radev and his party, Progressive Bulgaria, on their victory in the recently concluded parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, expressing hope for stronger bilateral cooperation.

‎In a message posted on X, Modi said, “Heartiest congratulations to Mr. Rumen Radev and his party Progressive Bulgaria, for their victory in the recently concluded parliamentary elections of Bulgaria.” He added that he looked forward to “working together to further strengthen the friendly and multifaceted ties between India and Bulgaria, as well as our broader cooperation in the region.”

‎India and Bulgaria share traditionally warm and cordial relations, with cooperation spanning trade, investment, culture, and multilateral forums. Diplomatic ties between the two countries date back to 1954, and have since expanded across sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, and education.

‎Bulgaria, a member of the European Union, is seen as an important partner for India in Southeast Europe, with both sides exploring opportunities to deepen economic engagement and regional cooperation. Modi’s message is in line with India’s continued outreach to European partners aimed at strengthening strategic and economic linkages.
