Prime Minister Narendra Modi batted for Uttarakhand tourism in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast on Sunday. He appealed to people to experience winter tourism in the Himalayan state.

As Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the PM has been a brand ambassador for Uttarakhand.

Prime Minister Modi once again poured his heart out for Uttarakhand, and expressed affection for the state as he appealed to the countrymen to visit and enjoy winter tourism in the Himalayan state.
He dedicated more than 2.30 minutes of his speech appreciating Uttarakhand’s potential for winter tourism, adventure sports, and wedding destinations, making an appeal to the countrymen to experience the valleys of the Himalayas during the winter season.

Praising destination weddings in Uttarakhand, Modi said, ” Amidst golden sunshine and descending fog from the mountains, Uttarakhand is turning into a popular wedding destination, especially the banks of the river Ganga where destination weddings are taking place frequently.” PM Modi asked the people if they were planning to go somewhere in the winter, they must visit the valleys of the Himalayas as an option, as these hill locations will offer them life lifetime experience.

The Prime Minister talked about the state’s first High Altitude Ultra Run Marathon organised recently at Adi Kailash at an altitude of 14,500 feet in Pithoragarh. “The 60 km long Adi Kailash Parikrama Run started at 5 AM under biting cold, and despite the chill, participants’ enthusiasm was at its peak. Till three years ago, only around 2000 people per year visited Adi Kailash, but now this number has reached 30,000,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also talked about the upcoming winter games to be held at the global skiing destination Auli, stating that “Uttarakhand is set to organise the Winter Games for which players, adventure lovers and people associated with sports in the country are preparing to take part.”
Modi mentioned that tourism infrastructure in Uttarakhand has improved as the state has focused on connectivity and homestay policies to boost winter tourism.

Reacting to the Prime Minister’s public appeal for their winter tourism in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “The Prime Minister is the biggest brand ambassador for Uttarakhand Tourism. He dedicated about two and a half minutes to Uttarakhand in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, stating that winter tourism in Uttarakhand has become a major attraction.”
