A soldier reportedly received minor injuries in a gunfight on Thursday when contact was re-established with the Pakistani terrorists four days after they killed a Special Forces Havildar and injured seven other soldiers in grenade attacks in the Chatroo area of the Kishtwar district in Jammu.
Two groups of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists are active in the area.
The terrorists, however, managed to flee deep inside the dense forests after a brief gunfight, sources said, adding that search parties were chasing them in the Arigam Dwathar area with the help of sniffer dogs, drones, and helicopters.
Security forces, including the Army, CRPF and J&K Police, this morning successfully tracked the terrorists who had on Sunday managed to escape while the security forces were approaching their hideout in the forest.
The security forces trapped these terrorists at the Arigam Dwathar hamlet around 200 meters away from the previous encounter spot of Sonar in Singhpura.
Heavy firing, including Rocket Launchers, were reportedly fired by security forces to neutralise the terrorists.
Meanwhile, a cordon & search operation (CASO) was launched in the border area of Akhnoor in the Jammu district this morning after movement of 4 individuals, suspected terrorists, was reported last night in the Sumah area of Akhnoor.
