Pakistan is moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent and a possible attempt to escalate the situation further, said Wing Commander Vyomika Singh on Saturday.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Singh stated: “Pakistan Army has been observed moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent and an attempt to escalate further. The Indian Armed Forces remain in a high state of operational readiness, and all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded to proportionately. The Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided Pakistan reciprocates.”
She also condemned the malicious misinformation campaign being run by Pakistan, which falsely claimed that an Indian S-400 system had been destroyed and that airfields at Surat and Sirsa had sustained damage.
“Pakistan has attempted to execute a sustained misinformation campaign, with claims of the destruction of the Indian S-400 system and damage to airfields at Surat and Sirsa… India unequivocally rejects these false claims being spread by Pakistan,” she said.
India also released timestamped images of its various air bases, showing them undamaged and fully operational.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi added that, while India had neutralised Pakistani drones, long-range weapons, and loitering munitions, Pakistan had attempted air infiltration at more than 26 locations, causing some damage to equipment and personnel at Air Force bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda.
“India neutralised many threats, but Pakistan attempted air infiltration at more than 26 locations. They damaged equipment and personnel at Air Force bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda. They used high-speed missiles at 1:40 am to target an air base in Punjab.
She further stated that Pakistan attacked civilian infrastructure, including health facilities and school premises at air bases in Srinagar, Awantipur and Udhampur.
“In a condemnable and unprofessional act, Pakistan targeted hospitals and school premises at air bases in Srinagar, Awantipur, and Udhampur. This once again reveals their irresponsible tendency to attack civilian infrastructure,” the Colonel noted.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasised that India had only responded defensively and in a responsible, measured manner but Pakistani actions have constituted provocations and escalations.
“I have said on numerous occasions that it is Pakistan’s actions that have constituted provocations and escalations. In response, India has defended itself in a responsible and measured fashion. Earlier this morning, we saw yet another instance of this escalatory and provocative behavior,” Misri said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence accused Pakistan of targeting places of worship in residential areas of Jammu.
“Pakistan continued its hostilities on 10 May 2025 by targeting places of worship like the famous Shambhu Temple and residential areas in Jammu. Multiple armed drones were sent through the night, endangering civilians and religious sites. The Indian Armed Forces remain vigilant and committed to defending the nation’s sovereignty,” the ministry said.
