The former principal of a government-run Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in Subarnapur district was arrested on Monday by the Vigilance wing of police for allegedly misappropriating Rs 55 lakh government funds.
”Soumya Ranjan Kheti, Ex Principal of OAV (Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya), Binika in Subarnapur district, has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance for embezzling Govt. money to the tune of Rs 55,02,610 under Mid-Day Meal, Mo School Abhijan, and Girls’ Hostel Fund Contingencies during the financial year 2021-22 to 2024-25 by abusing his official power,” according to a vigilance department statement.
Incidentally, the accused Kheti was found to have used Rs 11 lakh out of the misappropriated amount for online betting on “TEENPATTI” App.
Kheti was appointed as Principal of Binika Adarsh Vidyalaya on 29 September 2021. Inputs were received regarding the misappropriation of government funds by Kheti during his tenure, which was inquired into. He has been arrested in the case and is being interrogated to ascertain the details of misappropriation and use of the government funds, the Vigilance concluded.
