Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, on her 70th birthday, announced that the party will contest the 2027 elections with full force and energy.

She also appealed to the Brahmins and other communities to support the BSP in the 2027 elections to regain their honour and respect.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mayawati said that her party is preparing fully to contest the 2027 assembly elections at every level. If there is no rigging or malpractice in the EVMs, the results will be better.
She added that they are strengthening the party at every level, and who knows, the EVMs might be removed later, as is the case in many other countries.
Mayawati stated that their experience with forming alliances for elections has shown that it harms the BSP, while the alliance partners benefit because the Dalit vote bank goes to the other party, but their party’s votes don’t come to the BSP. She said that her party has decided that it is better to contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly and Lok Sabha elections alone, and they will not contest any election in alliance with any other party.

There should be no misunderstanding that the BSP will contest the elections alone in Uttar Pradesh this time, she added.

She elaborated that, “In the future, when our party is confident that casteist parties seeking an alliance can abandon their casteist mindset and transfer upper-caste votes to our party, then a positive decision can be made. This will take years. Changing the casteist mindset will take time. Until casteist parties do this, we will not be able to consider an alliance.”
