Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve that no agreement would be reached with the United States at the cost of the country’s farmers.

Addressing media persons at his residence in Bhopal, Chouhan stated that no deal would be made for the import of agricultural products from the US. He also ruled out any possibility of India making any changes to revive the current downward trend in Indo-US ties.

“The Prime Minister has said that no pact (with the US) will take place at the cost of farmers. Their interests will be protected,” Chouhan stated.

The former MP Chief Minister also lauded the recent reforms in the GST system.

“Our PM has shown to the world that the interests of the country are paramount, and there will be no compromise on national interests,” Chouhan maintained.

He reaffirmed that the welfare and benefit of the country’s farmers, poultry farmers, fishermen, and poor people would be ensured and protected at all costs.
