Questioning the sincerity of the Congress-Telangana government, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday demanded that the illegal phone surveillance case should be handed over to the CBI.
The minister deposed before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for almost two hours and revealed that his phone was tapped by putting it in the same list as the Maoists. Bandi Sanjay accused chief minister Revanth Reddy of being hand in glove with the BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao and wondered why there have been no arrests so far from KCR’s family.
Kumar alleged that there was widespread illegal surveillance during the BRS government which did not spare even its own ministers and KCR’s family members. He said that the phones of BRS minister and KCR’s nephew T Harish Rao were tapped and so were the phones of his daughter, Kalvakuntala Kavitha and her husband.
The list included the then PCC chief A Revanth Reddy who is currently the chief minister. His own phone came under the illegal surveillance once he became the Telangana BJP chief and it reached a peak during the bypolls at Huzurabad and Munugode.
All calls made by him to his workers and leaders were recorded. Bandi Sanjay revealed that the phones of his family members, staff, OSD were all tapped during the BRS regime. Even the judge hearing the TSPSC paper leak case was a victim of illegal surveillance. He alleged that businessmen’s phones were tapped and then they were blackmailed which went into election funding for the BRS.
“Everyone’s phone, including that of his daughter and son-in-law, was tapped by KCR. My phone was tapped and those of BRS ministers were also tapped. Congress is not initiating any action. They are hand in glove with KCR. We are demanding that a CBI inquiry be conducted,” said the Union minister.
He accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of protecting the accused in the phone tapping case. Pointing out that the phone tapping case has been dragged out for almost two years, Bandi Sanjay questioned whether anyone from KCR’s family has been arrested so far.
Blaming both KCR and his son KT Rama Rao for the illegal phone surveillance, the BJP leader said the accused in the case, police officers T Prabhakar Rao and Radha Kishan Rao, should be hanged.
Earlier in the day, before his deposition, the Union minister of state visited the Hanuman Temple at Khairtabad and then, following a rally with supporters, reached the Dilkhusha Guest House on foot to meet SIT officials.
