In a shocking incident, two minor brothers allegedly stabbed their minor cousin to death in a village in the Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh.

The police said that the incident occured in village Karadiyapari on Monday. Both the brothers, aged 11 and 13, who stabbed the boy about 20 times with a knife, were taken into custody and sent to a juvenile home, after being produced in a court.

According to Sonkatch Police Inspector Ashish Rajput, the deceased, Vedansh Jhala (13), a student of Class VII, had gone to a Ganesh idol pandaal in the village in the evening. When he did not return for several hours, his parents and other villagers launched a search for him. At about 11 pm, his body was found hidden in gunny sacks placed underneath a harvester machine inside a warehouse.

The police said the body had bore as many as 20 stab wounds on the stomach, chest, and neck.

During investigations, some villagers told the police that Vedansh was last seen with his two cousins. On the basis of the eye-witness account, the police interrogated the two brothers. During the interrogation, the duo confessed to have murdered Vedansh with a kitchen knife. They also told the police that they had a grudge against Vedansh, as he had beaten the 11-year-old brother some months ago.
