Mayawati’s advice on cabinet expansion in UP: raises the issue of law and order and Brahmin security

BSP leaders Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati, calling the reduction and expansion of the cabinet an internal matter of the ruling party, said it is not appropriate to comment on it but its impact should positively reflect in the lives of common people, especially the poor, laborers, farmers, youth, and women.

Sharing a tweet on social media on Monday, the BSP chief said the government’s and ministers’ work must ensure the safety of life, property, and religion of every section of society, especially the weaker sections. If this does not happen, people will consider it merely a “political gimmick” and a burden on government resources.

Ms. Mayawati said that the primary constitutional responsibility of governments and ministers is to maintain law and order and ensure justice and security for all sections of society. This should be clearly reflected in the functioning of the government.

The BSP supremo also mentioned the recent deadly attack on a young BJP leader from the Brahmin community in Lucknow. After this incident, she said, discussions have resumed regarding law and order and the safety of the Brahmin community in the state. She claimed that the Brahmin community in the state feels neglected and insecure, which is concerning.

Referring to her own government, she said that under the BSP’s policy of “Sarvajan Hitaya and Sarvajan Sukhaya,” efforts were made to provide justice and security to every section of society. Improved law and order and security for all sections of society have been the hallmarks of BSP governments.
