Mayawati called for a time-bound, independent, and impartial investigation into the matter and demanded strict action against the culprits. She warned against any efforts to downplay or cover up the case, stating, “The Haryana government must deal with this incident with utmost sensitivity and seriousness. Mere formalities in the name of investigation will not be acceptable.”
She also urged the Supreme Court and the Central Government to take suo-motu cognizance of the case, asserting that swift justice in high-profile cases like this is crucial to restore public faith in the system.
Highlighting the broader implications, she said, “This heartbreaking case should serve as a wake-up call for those who argue that reservations for SC, ST, and OBC communities should be based solely on economic status. Even after achieving wealth and high positions, caste-based oppression and discrimination do not spare them. The tragic incident in Haryana is the latest and clearest example of this ongoing injustice.”
