Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam will visit Varanasi on September 11, where he will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time.
There will be talks on cooperation in important areas like trade, technology, and tourism.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will host a dinner for the visiting prime minister.
The Mauritius Prime Minister’s visit to India will be from September 9 to 15, and the main event of this visit has been decided to be held in Kashi.
According to the programme, the Mauritian Prime Minister will be welcomed at Babatpur Airport with a guard of honour.
The Mauritius PM will pay obeisances at Shri Kashi Vishwanath and Baba Kalbhairav. He will also visit important cultural places in Kashi, including Sarnath and BHU Bharat Kala Bhavan, and will witness the Ganga Aarti.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with his Mauritian counterpart. This will be the first time that a prime minister of Mauritius will hold a bilateral meeting in Kashi. Talks, mainly, will consist of cooperation on important industrial development, technological innovation, and tourism.
In the letter issued by the Central Government, Divisional Commissioner S Raj Lingam has been nominated as the nodal officer. He has been asked to prepare a detailed programme according to the welcome and protocol of the guests. The administration will now select the venue and programmes.
Divisional Commissioner Raj Lingam said here on Tuesday that “The Prime Minister of Mauritius will reach Kashi on September 11. The minute-to-minute programme has not been received yet.”
Earlier, on September 11, 2023, the then Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Jugnauth, had also reached Kashi. He had immersed the ashes of his relative at Dashwamedh Ghat.
