The Opposition Congress-led Mahagathbandhan is all set to release its joint manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections 2025 on October 28 in Patna.
Acccording to alliance sources, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will also kick start their campaign for the forthcoming assembly elections from October 28.
The sources also said that Congress M0 and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will address joint rallies with RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s CM face Tejashwi Yadav on several seats going to polls in the first and second phases.
After days of internal rift over seat-sharing and disagreements over CM candidate’s formal announcement, the Mahagathbandhan leaders on Thursday declared Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidates.
Moreover, the Opposition’s alliance also announced VIP’s Mukesh Sahni as its official candidate for the deputy CM’s post provided they form the government.
“Everyone should be worried (about the situation in the country). This is why I can say that, after consulting Kharge ji, Rahul ji, and others sitting here, Tejashwi Yadav is the CM candidate for this election. He is a young person. He has a long future and the public will support him,” Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said at a press conference in Patna.
Gehlot said that the way the BJP-led NDA operates is a threat to democracy. “There is polarisation. Nobody knows in which direction the country is heading. If you criticise, you are sent to jail – it doesn’t matter if you are a journalist or activist. It is our responsibility to keep in mind what the country wants. The country is watching Bihar. The issue of unemployment remains. People want change.”
The 2025 Bihar elections will be held in two phases — on Novembe 6 and 11 — with counting of votes on November 14.
