Ketan Agarwal murder case: FDA raids Pune shop linked to Siya Goyal’s family, seizes over 4 tonnes of food items

More than four tonnes of food products valued at over Rs 8 lakh have been seized during a raid by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at a Pune wholesale establishment linked to the family of an accused in the Ketan Agarwal murder case.

The FDA clarified that the action was based on alleged food safety and licensing violations. It did not state that the raid was connected to the murder investigation.

FDA cites licence, labelling and food safety violations

The inspection was carried out on July 14 at M/s BG Goyal & Company in Pune’s Market Yard. The establishment is owned by Pravin Goyal, father of Siya Goyal, who is an accused in the Ketan Agarwal death case.

According to the FDA, officials seized 4,172 kg of food products worth Rs 8,14,630.

The department said the action followed allegations that a storeroom was being operated without a valid licence. It also cited label-related violations and suspicion that some food products were substandard or unsafe.

Officials collected four samples for laboratory analysis. These included samples of turmeric powder, sesame seeds and soya mini chunks sold under different brands.

The seized stock comprised 598 kg of one brand of turmeric powder, 1,258 kg of another turmeric powder brand, 538 kg of sesame seeds and 1,778 kg of soya mini chunks.

The raid was conducted by Food Safety Officers KL Sonkamble and Pratik Jadhav under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Khose. Pune Zone functions under Joint Commissioner (Food) DW Bhogawade.
