Jilted lover slits woman’s throat after dinner date in Bengaluru

In a shocking incident, a young woman in Karnataka’s Bengaluru was allegedly murdered by her former lover after he invited her for dinner.

The incident took place in the Mahalakshmi Layout area of Bengaluru, while the accused was taken into custody by police within hours of the crime, IANS quoted police officials as saying.

The victim has been identified as Anjali, while the accused is Rajiv. Both of them are said to be residents of KP Agrahara in Bengaluru.

Police officials informed that Rajiv and Anjali met each other at their workplace and had been in a relationship for the past couple of years, while their families were aware about this.

However, Anjali’s family rejected their marriage proposal after learning about Rajiv’s criminal antecedents. She respected her parents’ wish and decided to end her relationship with Rajiv and distance herself.

Rajiv did not accept this and is believed to have pressured Anjali to tie the knot with him.

On Sunday evening, Rajiv allegedly invited Anjali for dinner and then took her to the Pipeline Road area in Mahalakshmi Layout, where the two of them reportedly had an argument over their breakup.

After the altercation, Rajiv allegedly pulled out a knife and slit Anjali’s throat. Soon after, he fled the scene.

Passersby then rushed the critically injured victim to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.Taking action in the matter, the Mahalakshmi Layout police tracked down Rajiv and arrested him.

A murder case has been registered by police in connection with the matter, with preliminary investigation indicating that Rajiv killed her after failing to come to terms with Anjali’s decision to end their relationship.
