Jharkhand Congress dismisses internal strife as misinformation from BJP-media nexus

In a pointed rebuttal to growing speculation of internal strife, the Jharkhand Congress on Monday reaffirmed party unity and accused the BJP and select media houses of engineering a “coordinated campaign” to discredit the Mahagathbandhan government and its ministers.

Dismissing the swirl of recent controversies, Congress leaders insisted that the party remained structurally intact and ideologically focused.

State Congress president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh extended birthday wishes to national president Mallikarjun Kharge on turning 83, stating that under his leadership the party’s resolve has strengthened. “All our MPs and MLAs are working in unison. There is no internal friction. Attempts to paint a picture of infighting are part of an orchestrated misinformation drive,” he said.

Party leaders informed that preparations are underway for the national “Participation and Justice Convention” organised by the Congress OBC Department in Delhi on 25 July. Kharge will inaugurate the event while Rahul Gandhi will address the concluding session. A large contingent of Congress supporters from Jharkhand will be participating.

The party also outlined progress in its ongoing “Sangathan Srijan” initiative. Organisational appointments at the district, block, and mandal levels are nearing completion, training camps are being held across the state, and finalisation of grassroots-level teams is expected by the end of July. Restructuring down to the Booth Level Agent tier is targeted for completion by 15 August.

Responding to what it termed “distorted reportage”, the party defended Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh’s recent visit to an official campus in her constituency. The visit, according to Congress leaders, was to address drinking water grievances, and immediate coordination with officials led to prompt resolution. “To portray it as a protest is a gross misrepresentation,” they said.

The party also refuted reports concerning Health Minister Irfan Ansari’s son, Krish Ansari, who had visited a hospital to check on a teacher’s health condition. Leaders stated he neither issued instructions nor interfered with hospital operations, and termed the episode a politically motivated exaggeration.

Defending Congress Legislature Party deputy leader Rajesh Kacchap, party leaders explained that his review of a land mutation file linked to the Ranchi Smart City project was procedural. They termed attempts to frame it as political interference “uninformed and misleading.”

On the contentious HEC land issue, Congress stated that of the nearly 8,000 acres originally acquired, significant portions remain unutilised. The party assured that the government is examining the matter within legal frameworks, with appropriate action to follow.

Asserting the Mahagathbandhan government’s stability, the Congress underscored that its ministers remain committed to public welfare. Raising issues on behalf of the people, they said, must not be misconstrued as dissent. “The BJP is attempting to turn every administrative act into a political flashpoint. But this government continues to function with seriousness, cohesion, and resolve,” the party concluded.
