A threat email sent twice in a single day, warning of bomb attacks on the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the airport complex, kept security agencies on high alert throughout Saturday.
The trend of threat emails resurfaced on Saturday morning after a brief lull, when airport authorities found a threatening message in their official inbox, according to airport sources.
The email, reportedly sent from a likely fictitious ID using the name of Bhagwant Mann, claimed that explosives had been planted at four locations across Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which could detonate around 11:00 am. It also threatened a bomb blast at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) located in the high-security State Secretariat premises.
An alert was immediately sounded, and the CMO authorities were promptly informed of the threat. Police, along with bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog teams, and personnel from allied security agencies, rushed to both locations.
As a precautionary measure, the CMO was evacuated, and intensive searches were launched. However, no explosives or suspicious items were found at either location, a police official said.
Then again, around 4:30 pm, a second email from the same ID was received at the airport — the second threat in less than 12 hours. The message reiterated the earlier bomb threat and additionally mentioned that a man, identified as “one Kumar from Tamil Nadu,” should be searched for explosives allegedly concealed in a cigarette case, the sources said.
Following the second email, search operations were relaunched, the sources said, adding, “Though this seems to be fictitious, the authorities cannot afford to take it lightly.”
This bizarre trend of intermittent bomb threats has persisted across various cities throughout 2025. So far, around two dozen threat emails have been received, targeting locations such as airports, railway stations, metro stations, and district collectorates in cities like Jaipur, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, and Jodhpur.
Over 50 per cent of these threat emails were reported from Jaipur alone.
