Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma went all out against the Congress in the latest press conference, claiming the party had launched a “fabricated, Pakistan-influenced misinformation campaign” targeting him and his family just as the Assembly elections draw near.
Sarma directly named Congress leaders Pawan Khera and Gaurav Gogoi, accusing them of staging press conferences in Delhi and Guwahati to tarnish the reputation of his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma.
Doctored passports and AI tricks?
Sarma alleged that the documents Congress displayed, supposedly foreign passports belonging to his wife, were manipulated using AI tools and photo editing software.

According to him, a forensic-style review revealed glaring inconsistencies: mismatched identity numbers, wrong birth details, visual anomalies in passport images.

He didn’t hold back. One document, he claimed, actually belonged to an Egyptian national, while another was a UAE Golden Visa masquerading as a passport, something the UAE simply doesn’t issue to non-citizens.
“Technically impossible,” Sarma said.
“Pakistan connection” raises eyebrows
Turning the heat up, Sarma alleged a foreign angle. He claimed Pakistani media had aired at least 11 discussions on Assam elections in the past ten days, all seemingly projecting narratives favourable to Congress.
We have clear evidence that a Pakistan backed Social media group has contributed to #CONGFakeAICampaign.

Even more eyebrow-raising, he said the materials used in the press conferences were directly traceable to Pakistani digital networks.
“Why use Pakistan to defame me?” Sarma asked rhetorically.
Sarma ended the press conference by calling the allegations “baseless, malicious, and politically motivated.” He warned that anyone found fabricating or circulating such material would face strict legal consequences.
