IITF 2025: J’khand offers best tourism potential; mining tourism on anvil

The 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 is turning out to be a major crowd-puller, with various states and Union territories of the country showcasing their best products at the platform.

Jharkhand is the focus state of IITF this year. The state is showcasing government initiatives, artisan products, and convincing the visitors to consider it a major tourist destination.

“As we all know, Jharkhand is a land of forests. It offers nature itself to anyone visiting the eastern state. We are working on many interesting projects to raise our tourist footfall figures,” K K Das, district-level tourism specialist, Jharkhand tourism department, told The Statesman.

“We are developing an eco-tourism circuit, planning to rope in locals for the homestay project, and even offering ‘no-network zones’ to tourists who are on digital-detox. Mining tourism is also in the pipeline. Apart from the beautiful nature, Jharkhand is also one of the few states where both the ‘jyotirlinga’ (shrine where Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of a radiant pillar of height) and ‘shakti peeth’ (shrine dedicated to mother goddess ‘Shakti’) are at the same place,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand pavilion at IITF was a clear favourite among the visitors as many were seen inquiring about the various tribal products on display. Paitkar artists from the state spoke about how the fair helps revive one of India’s oldest scroll-painting traditions, allowing them to narrate stories through their detailed linework.

Jharkhand Tourism Minister Sudivya Kuamr, who inaugurated the state pavilion,

said, “Bharat Mandapam provides an ideal platform to present the state’s accomplishments and crafts. We are confident that visitors will appreciate what Jharkhand has displayed.”

The theme for this year’s fair is- ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’. This year, 12 countries, including, United Arab Emirates, China, Iran, South Korea, and Egypt, are participating in this 14-day fair. The fair provides a major platform for domestic and international trade, promoting business-to-business and business-to-consumer linkages.
