Himachal CM directs HIMUDA to plan new housing projects close to Chandigarh

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu directed Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) to explore the possibilities of developing new townships in the proximity to Chandigarh to facilitate the people of the state and meet the growing housing demand.

Presiding over a meeting of the to review various ongoing and proposed projects on Monday, the chief minister reviewed the proposed Jathiya Devi Township near Shimla and directed HIMUDA to appoint a consultant at the earliest to expedite the project. He said the Jathiya Devi Satellite Town would play a vital role in decongesting Shimla city and provide better amenities to the people.

He was apprised that a blueprint of the township has been prepared by TATA Engineering Services Company, keeping in view the aesthetic appeal of the area and ensuring world-class facilities.

To strengthen urban infrastructure, the chief minister assured the release of Rs 20 crore for the upcoming commercial complex at Vikasnagar in Shimla city to speed up construction work.

He said the complex would be one of the most modern buildings in the city, housing government offices, a shopping complex, and other essential facilities under one roof.
Sukhu also reviewed various upcoming housing projects across the state and directed officials to expedite their execution in a time-bound manner.

He stressed that the government is committed to providing affordable housing and planned urban development for citizens across Himachal Pradesh.
