No argument took place in the case related to the Mathura Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Eidgah Mosque dispute on Friday.
The court did not record any arguments after it was informed that the Supreme Court will hear the Mathura case on December 16.
A single bench of Justice Avneesh Saxena was hearing the case. The High Court has set the next date for hearing the case for January 23.
However, during today’s hearing, an amendment petition was filed by Shakumbhari Peethadheeshwar Ashutosh Pandey, president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust, Mathura. The amendment petition adds several important facts to the case.
Pandey is also the main plaintiff in the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Eidgah Mosque case.
The High Court has been hearing petitions filed in the case since October 2023.
The petitions allege encroachment by the Shahi Eidgah Mosque and demand that the temple side hand over possession of the land.
A total of 18 lawsuits have been filed seeking the temple’s restoration and a permanent injunction.
