Haryana has secured the second position among states in the country for registrations on the recently launched ‘TB Mukt Bharat App’, reflecting growing public participation in the state’s campaign to eliminate tuberculosis through digital initiatives, Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said on Thursday.

The minister urged citizens, corporate organisations and voluntary groups to enrol as ‘Nikshay Mitras’ and support tuberculosis patients by providing nutritional and psychosocial assistance. She said active community participation would be crucial to achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of a TB-free India and expressed confidence that Haryana could emerge as the country’s first TB-free state.

Rao said the Health Department has issued detailed guidelines to all districts to promote widespread adoption of the app under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). The platform has been designed to connect TB patients, Nikshay Mitras, volunteers and health officials, enabling better treatment monitoring and patient support through a single digital interface.

According to the minister, Haryana has so far recorded 32,643 registrations on the application, placing it second nationwide. Of these, 22,266 volunteers have registered to provide nutrition kits and psychosocial support to TB patients, while 1,997 individuals have enrolled as new Nikshay Mitras to adopt patients and assist them with nutritional and diagnostic requirements during treatment.

Highlighting the app’s features, Rao said it includes ‘Khushi e-Sangini’, an Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbot available in 12 languages that provides information on tuberculosis symptoms, government welfare schemes and GPS-enabled access to the nearest TB testing centres.

She said TB patients can log in using their Nikshay ID to view personalised treatment schedules, while built-in medication reminders are intended to improve treatment adherence and ensure uninterrupted therapy.

The minister added that the platform also enables companies, non-governmental organisations and individual citizens to register as Nikshay Mitras. Volunteers distributing nutrition kits can upload geo-tagged and time-stamped photographs through the application, ensuring greater transparency and accountability in service delivery.

Apart from facilitating patient support, the application also serves as a public awareness platform by providing verified information on TB symptoms, preventive measures and dispelling misconceptions associated with the disease.

National Health Mission Haryana Mission Director Dr R.S. Dhillon said frontline healthcare personnel, including Senior Treatment Supervisors, Senior TB Laboratory Supervisors, TB Health Visitors and Community Health Officers, have been trained to help patients download the application and activate daily medicine reminders on their mobile phones.

Appealing for greater public participation, Dr Dhillon urged people to download the TB Mukt Bharat App, remain alert to tuberculosis symptoms and contribute to the state’s elimination drive by registering as Nikshay Mitras.

Health Department officials said the technology-driven initiative is expected to strengthen community engagement, improve treatment compliance and accelerate Haryana’s efforts towards achieving the national objective of eliminating tuberculosis.
