Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday paid respect to the ninth Guru of Sikhism, ‘Hindi Ki Chadar’, (Shield of Hind) Guru Tegh Bahadur, on the occasion of his 350th martyrdom anniversary.

Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, Shah stated, “On the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Guru of Sikhism, ‘Hind Ki Chadar’, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, I bow and pay my respects to him.”

Shah highlighted that Guru Tegh Bahadur, within a single lifetime, engaged in deep spiritual practice, held sacred discourses, and protected the country’s culture and faith from brutal invaders.

According to HM Shah, the revered Sikh Guru fought for the Kashmiri Pandits, challenged the tyrannical Mughal, and sacrificed his life for the sake of dharma.

The Home Minister said that remembering the saga of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice, which is filled with bravery, restraint, selflessness, and devotion, is something that fills the heart with pride and a renewed resolve for protecting the nation.

On Monday, Shah had also visited and offered respect to the revered Sikh Guru at the congregation being held at the national capital’s Red Fort to mark 350th martyrdom day of the Guru.

Shah had said that the courage and valour with which Guru Sahib fought for humanity and against the injustice back in time is a source of inspiration for every Indian. He also bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib (holy scripture of Sikhs) and interacted with devotees, describing the congregation as unparalleled in its spiritual devotion and reverence.
