Guru Gobind Singh’s life is an inspiration for all humanity: Acharya Balkrishna

On a chilly winter day, Patanjali University campus came alive with prayers, lights, reflection. The Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was celebrated along with the Lohri festival bringing together teachers, students, scholars for meaningful cultural and spiritual gathering.

The event was organised under the Shri Guru Gobind Singh Chair and began in a calm and respectful manner. Vice Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna, along with Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Mayank Kumar Agrawal, Dean Dr. Sadhvi Devpriya, and Dean Dr. Ritvik Sahay, formally opened the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

“A life that teaches courage and humanity”

Speaking at the event, Acharya Balkrishna described Guru Gobind Singh Ji as a living example of the “saint-soldier” tradition. He said Guru Gobind Singh’s life was not just about history or religion, but about values that still matter today.

“He taught people to stand up against injustice without fear,” Acharya Balkrishna said. “His message of love for the nation, strong character, and moral courage is for all humanity, not just one community.”

He added that Guru Gobind Singh Ji showed how spirituality and bravery can walk together.

“From fear to self-respect”

Professor Dr. Jeet Singh Sandhu, from the Shri Guru Gobind Singh Chair, spoke about the Guru’s powerful role in history. He explained how Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave confidence and dignity to the oppressed sections of society.

“By giving them the title ‘Singh’, he gave them self-respect and courage,” Dr. Sandhu said. He called the formation of the Khalsa Panth a historic turning point that encouraged people to follow truth and righteousness without compromise.

Teachers and students join the celebration

Many senior faculty members were present, including Prof. Arvind Kumar Singh, Dr. Toran Singh, and Dr. Vinay Kumar Sharma. A large number of students also attended.

The programme ended with the traditional lighting of the Lohri fire. Coordinator Dr. Nivedita Sharma gave the vote of thanks while the event was smoothly conducted by Assistant Coordinator Dr. Gurneet Kaur.
