Grand celebrations were witnessed in Kashi on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The PM has won thrice from the parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.

Various events across the city created a festive atmosphere on Wednesday. A cleanliness drive was organised from Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk to Kachahari Chowk, led by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ravindra Jaiswal, advocate Ashok Kumar, and members of the Scheduled Caste Morcha.

Minister Jaiswal informed that blood donation camps were being conducted in Kashi today in honour of the Prime Minister’s birthday. Additionally, fruits will be distributed at old-age homes and orphanages.

Different programs are being held at multiple locations in the city. At the historic Dashashwamedh Ghat, former minister and legislator Dr Neelkanth Tiwari performed rituals including ‘Dugdhabhishek’ (a milk offering), and an aarti along with prayers by young Vedic scholars (batuks) for the Prime Minister’s long life.

The chanting of conch shells reverberated with the participation of Vedic scholars and BJP workers. Dr Tiwari said, “Mother Ganga had called him. With her blessings, the Prime Minister has transformed the image of Kashi and the entire nation.”

Meanwhile, Subhash Chandra Gupta, a former member of the BJP National Council and the proposer when Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, extended birthday greetings, saying, “Just as Lord Vishwakarma created the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shaped modern India, decorated it, and set it on the path of development. Soon, India will become the third-largest economy in the world.”

He further added, “On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, celebrations are taking place at different places across Kashi. When he filed his nomination for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections for the first time, I was his proposer. I wish him a happy birthday. Just as Lord Vishwakarma designed his country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has similarly adorned, shaped, and taken modern India forward on the path of development. Soon, we will become the world’s third-largest economy.”

Vishvakarma Puja, a Hindu observance dedicated to Vishvakarma, the architect of the gods, is also being celebrated today.
