Uttar Pradesh has earned a place of pride in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, with several state universities making their mark across multiple categories.
Lauding this achievement, Governor Anandiben Patel congratulated the institutions for their “outstanding performance.”
“This achievement is living proof of the academic quality, research work, innovation, and the hard work and dedication of students in the universities of the state,” the Governor said here in a statement on Friday.
She added, “This ranking is a testament to the continuous progress of higher education institutions in the state. I am confident that in the coming times, the universities of Uttar Pradesh will earn even greater prestige at the national and international level as centers of knowledge, research, and innovation.”
In the state universities category, Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur, secured the 23rd position; the University of Lucknow ranked 27th; King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, stood at 29th; and Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, at 41st. Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, Deen Dayal Upadhyay University, Gorakhpur, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, were placed in the 51–100 band.
In the overall category, KGMU, Lucknow was ranked 83rd and MMMUT, Gorakhpur 99th. Among general universities, MMMUT stood at 68th, University of Lucknow at 98th, and Deen Dayal Upadhyay University in the 151–200 band.
In the technical category, MMMUT bagged the 60th spot, while HBTU was placed in the 201–300 band. In management, MMMUT ranked 83rd and University of Lucknow 100th. In architecture, the Faculty of Architecture and Planning at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow earned the 39th rank.
In the law category, the University of Lucknow achieved the 29th position. In medical institutions, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow secured the 5th rank and KGMU was placed 8th. In pharmacy, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi ranked 68th and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly 86th.
This multi-category success reflects the state’s growing footprint in higher education and research, setting the stage for even greater national and global recognition.
