Four kaanwariyas, including three members of the same family, were killed and several others injured when a speeding car lost control and rammed into a group of kaanwariyas walking along the road in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 1 am on Wednesday near the Sheetla Mata temple gate on the Gwalior-Shivpuri link road, part of the Agra-Mumbai National Highway.

Initial investigations and eyewitness accounts from other kaanwariyas indicated that a tyre burst caused the driver to lose control. As a result, the car struck the group of kaanwariyas before overturning into a roadside ditch.

Three victims died on the spot, while the fourth succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. All the kaanwariyas were returning from Bhadauna after filling their kaanwars with Ganga water. The deceased and injured belonged to the Simariya Panchayat of Ghatigaon in Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Puran Banjara, Ramesh Banjara, and Dinesh Banjara—all relatives—and Dharmendra, also known as Chotu. The injured were admitted to a hospital for treatment, with two reported to be in serious condition.
