External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will leave here for Bhutan on Friday on his first overseas visit after induction into the Modi Government, reflecting the importance India attaches to its ties with the Himalayan nation.

During his two-day visit, Jaishankar is expected to receive an audience with Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck apart from holding talks with Prime Minister Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering and his counterpart Lyonpo Dr Tandi Dorji, the External Affairs Ministry said.

India and Bhutan share a unique and time-tested bilateral relationship, characterised by utmost trust, goodwill and mutual understanding.

During the visit, the two sides will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including the upcoming high-level exchanges, economic development and hydro-power cooperation.
