In a major political development ahead of the Assembly elections in Bihar, the BJP received a political boost as several prominent politicians joined the party strengthening the BJP’s social equations and outreach.

Most prominent among them was former IPS officer Anand Mishra, who left Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party and joined the BJP in the presence of BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and other senior leaders.

Prominent leader from the Bhumihar community Ashutosh, former Union Minister Nagmani Kushwaha and his wife, former Bihar minister Suchitra Sinha, also took membership of the party.

Notably, this marks the 14th party switch for Nagmani Kushwaha.

Anand Mishra was an Assam-cadre IPS officer. He resigned from the police service to enter politics and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Buxar. Later, he joined Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj movement and headed its youth wing.

Welcoming all the new leaders into the BJP family, Dilip Jaiswal stated: “The inclusion of these leaders will not only politically strengthen the party but also benefit the organisation and the government through their experience. All of them will be assigned important responsibilities in the near future so that their experience can be effectively utilised.”

Samrat Choudhary said that inclusion of these leaders would greatly benefit the party. He stated: “When the BJP and NDA are strong, only then will the country be strong. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently spoken about making India a developed nation — and the country can only develop when Bihar develops.”

Vijay Sinha said that Bihar needs to be propelled forward with positive energy. “Our urgency has never been about power — it’s about saving Bihar. We must fulfill the dream of building and beautifying Bihar. The dream is to make Bihar a developed state, and we are committed to making that a reality. Bihar will never move forward with those who ruined it.”
