The Election Commission of India (ECI) today wrapped up a comprehensive two-day virtual training program for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) ahead of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and bye-elections, held on October 9 and 10. According to the ECI’s press release, 243 ROs and 1,418 AROs actively participated in the sessions designed to sharpen their election management skills.

The training featured an online assessment combined with a doubt-clearing forum focused on the nomination process, ensuring officials are fully prepared. National Level Master Trainers addressed queries and provided expert guidance on key electoral procedures.

Among the program’s core components were:
A detailed online assessment and interactive Q&A to bolster readiness.
A briefing on the Presiding Officer module of ECINet, which facilitates timely voter turnout reporting every two hours and at the close of polls.
A mandatory trial run of the Presiding Officer application at all polling stations to guarantee operational smoothness.
Extensive coverage of crucial topics, including candidate qualification and disqualification, Model Code of Conduct, withdrawal of candidature, symbol allotment, poll-day logistics, and vote counting.

The ECI’s proactive approach aims to leverage technology and thorough preparation to conduct transparent, efficient, and smooth elections in Bihar.
