A drunk passenger onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 operating from Delhi to Kolkata was detained after he allegedly misbehaved with the cabin crew and disturbed fellow passengers, the airline said in a statement on Wednesday.
The alleged incident took place on September 1. The passenger, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was declared unruly and handed over to security upon arrival in Kolkata.
“We are aware of an incident of unruly behaviour onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 operating from Delhi to Kolkata on 01 September 2025. One of the customers onboard, under the influence of alcohol, was found to be misbehaving with the cabin crew and disturbing fellow passengers. In line with established protocols, the said customer was declared unruly and was handed over to security upon arrival. A formal complaint was also lodged with the relevant authorities,” an IndiGo spokesperson said in a statement.
It further added that the airline follows a “zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disruptive or abusive conduct and remains committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all customers and crew”.
In a related development, an IndiGo flight from Nagpur to Kolkata suffered a suspected bird strike, officials said on Tuesday.
Abid Ruhi, Senior Airport Director, Nagpur Airport, Maharashtra, confirmed the incident, saying, “There has been a suspected bird strike on IndiGo’s 6E812 Nagpur-Kolkata flight.”
The airport authorities said they are analysing the incident, and further details are expected once the inspection of the plane is completed.
