Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday demanded a public apology from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for his controversial remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking briefly to media persons at Sanganer International Airport in Jaipur, Dhami said the use of a term like “terrorist” for the Prime Minister was derogatory and an insult to the world’s largest democracy. “Such statements hurt the sentiments of 140 crore Indians,” he said.
The Chief Minister accused Mallikarjun Kharge of disregarding democratic norms and constitutional decorum, alleging that his remarks reflected arrogance and appeasement-driven politics.
He also criticised the Congress and its INDIA bloc allies over the Women’s Reservation Bill, claiming they had opposed the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill related to women’s reservation. Dhami asserted that “Nari Shakti” would respond to such actions in future elections.
Expressing confidence about the BJP’s prospects, Pushkar Singh Dhami said that after campaigning in West Bengal, he believes the state is poised for political change. He predicted the formation of a “double engine government” and said it was time for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to step down.
Dhami arrived in Jaipur on a spiritual visit and proceeded to the Khatu Shyam Temple in Sikar district to offer prayers.
