In the wake of the directions of the Delhi High Court, Delhi University (DU) extended the registration process for the undergraduate courses by reopening its admission portal on Sunday. As per the HC orders, the registration process has been extended until 22 June.

Delhi University’s online registration process for admissions started on 30 May. The admission process has already been delayed for the 2019-20 academic year.

As per the admission schedule released by the varsity, the registration link was to close on Friday, 14 June. However, the university reopened the registration portal on Sunday after the High Court passed a judgment on a set of cases brought before it regarding revision in the eligibility criteria for various undergraduate courses.

According to a senior university official, now the first cut-off list for admission to undergraduate courses is expected to be released on 28 June. Earlier, it was scheduled to be released on 20 June, the official said.

So far, around 3.46 lakh students have registered for undergraduate courses and about 2.41 lakh students have paid the application fees.

The university introduced a few changes in the eligibility criteria but these changes were made public only a day before the commencement of the admission process which began on 30 May.

The Delhi High Court has now directed the varsity to allow students to apply for undergraduate courses as per last year’s eligibility criteria.
