Two more children from Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh died on Thursday of kidney failure, suspected to have been caused by the consumption of the now-banned toxic cough syrup ‘Coldrif’.
One-year-old Garvik Pawar, and three-year-old Mayank Suryavanshi died during treatment at the Nagpur Medical College Hospital in Maharashtra.
Mayank succumbed past midnight Thursday, while Garvik died on Thursday afternoon.
Mayank belonged to village Mordogri of Parasia Tehsil, while Garvik was from Pachdhar village of Umreth Tehsil, both in Chhindwara district.
With these two recent deaths, the toll has risen to 25, as per sources.
