CM orders transfer, suspensions after deaths linked to toxic cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday ordered the transfer of the state’s Drug Controller and the suspension of three other officials in connection with the deaths of 16 children due to kidney failure, allegedly caused by the consumption of the now-banned toxic cough syrup Coldrif.

The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting at the CM House in Bhopal.

He ordered the transfer of Madhya Pradesh Drug Controller Dinesh Maurya and the suspension of Chhindwara Drug Inspector Gaurav Sharma, Jabalpur Drug Inspector Sharad Kumar Jain, and Deputy Director of the State Food and Drug Administration Department, Shobhit Koshta.

Dr Yadav asserted that no form of negligence or irresponsibility would be tolerated in such matters.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited Parasia and met the bereaved families in Neuton village and Magazine Line area, offering condolences for the loss of their children. He assured them that the state government stands firmly with them and that all possible assistance will be provided.
